Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mian today( Saturday) said that from the day Durga idols start being crafted until their immersion, every puja mandap must remain under monitoring.

He sais the Puja Udjapon Committee, police, Ansar, Bangladesh Army, and all officials and employees of the district administration are actively engaged in the process.
He also said, “I am grateful to them.”

Addressing the puja committee leaders, he said, “The purpose for which you are arranging this festival, and the purpose for which people are joining you, must be successful.”

He further added, “Those who come to observe religious rituals should be able to do so smoothly. If there is a huge crowd in front of the mandap, visitors may form a negative impression. Devotees prepare for a year with hope and excitement to visit the mandap and pray. You must ensure that this hope and enthusiasm are not spoiled in any way.”

The DC said, “We want a festive atmosphere. We want to present this spirit before the world. The more negative propaganda comes, the stronger we will be. Our mutual friendship and communal harmony will grow even stronger. We want to show the world that we live in harmony, that we are united in fraternity.”

He also assured, “We are always by your side. You have already seen that I personally visited several puja preparations in Araihazar upazila. The Superintendent of Police, Chief Executive Officer of the District Council, as well as officials of Ansar and police have also visited. They are constantly monitoring preparations. We will continue this supervision as much as possible. Even then, if there are problems on the road or anywhere else, please inform us. The control room numbers are available. We will take immediate action. There will be no negligence in this matter.”

On security issue, the DC said, “To ensure flawless security, the administration, police, RAB, Ansar, and BGB and Bangladesh Army will work together, and every puja mandap will be under strict monitoring. Together, we want to celebrate Durga Puja free of any unrest and present the bright image of the country to the world.”

Earlier, DC Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mian distributed financial aid to each of the 224 puja mandaps in Narayanganj.

Shankar Kumar Dey, President of the Narayanganj District Puja Udjapon Committee, said: “The DC instructed us to inspect mandaps beforehand to fix any flaws, for which we are truly grateful. On behalf of all Hindu community, we thank him.”

Kartik Ghosh, Member Secretary of the Narayanganj district unit of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Front, said: “There are still some conspiratorial groups trying to create chaos during puja. The administration must remain vigilant. We will also visit the puja mandaps.”

Avik Kumar Roy, Convener of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Front
, said: “We should all stand by good deeds. Every mandap should be under CCTV surveillance.”

Shikhon Sarkar Shipon, General Secretary of the Narayanganj District unit of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Community , said: “On the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja, the DC gathered all puja committees today in this remarkable event, and for that, we express gratitude to the District Council. You all know that Narayanganj DC Zahidul Islam is a humanitarian DC. When he served in Rajbari, he carried out many good works, widely covered in newspapers. Since joining Narayanganj, he has also continued numerous humanitarian initiatives.”

The event was attended by Krishna Pada Saha, President of the Narayanganj Metropolitan Puja Udjapon Committee, Vice-President Uttam Kumar Saha, General Secretary Sushil Das, Khokon Saha, Member Secretary of the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Okko Parishad of Narayanganj Metropolitan, along with leaders of all 224 puja mandaps.

In their remarks, they expressed deep gratitude to the DC for his continuous attention to law and order and overall preparations, and called upon all to uphold social harmony and celebrate Durga Puja peacefully together.
