‘Irish Road Rules’ book & app launched to assist with driving theory test preparation in Ireland

To simplify driving theory test preparation for Bengali speakers living in Ireland, a book titled ‘Irish Road Rules’ has been published in the Bengali language. A mobile app of the same name has also been launched. Through both the book and the app, users can understand the meaning of English test questions in Bengali, while learning about Irish road laws, traffic signs, and the rules of the road.

The book is authored by Sadia Islam Ira. The ‘Irish Road Rules’ app, developed under the initiative of the technology firm ‘Era Tech Limited,’ is now available for both iPhone and Android users.

The theory test is a crucial step in the process of obtaining a driving license in Ireland. Many Bengali speakers often face challenges when preparing for this test—struggling to comprehend English questions, grasp road-related terminology, and master various traffic regulations. This can be particularly difficult for new immigrants or those with limited proficiency in English.

The book and app were created with these challenges in mind. Their primary objective is to help users understand the meaning of English questions in Bengali, enabling them to learn the substance of road laws and traffic regulations rather than simply memorizing answers.

The book and app cover essential topics such as traffic signs, road markings, vehicle control, and general rules of the road. With both a printed book and a mobile app available, users can choose the learning format that best suits their needs.

The app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. According to promotional information, the app is offered for a one-time purchase price of €24.99.
This initiative—creating educational materials in Bengali tailored to the needs of the expatriate community—could prove instrumental in reducing language barriers. For those who find it difficult to understand the meaning of questions in English, the opportunity to learn through explanations in their native language is particularly valuable.

By providing access to the same subject matter through both books and an app, users can prepare using digital resources alongside printed materials, making the learning process simpler and more convenient.
However, when preparing for the driving theory test, it is essential to follow the latest guidelines issued by the relevant Irish government authorities, in addition to using these books and apps.

The ‘Irish Road Rules’ book and app were developed with the goal of addressing a key, everyday need for the Bangladeshi expatriate community by combining technology with learning materials in their native language.
