Mahasashti of Sharadiya Durgotsav today is Sunday. The five-day festival begins with this. Chandipath and puja are going on at Dhakeshwari National Temple since morning. Mandapams across the country are filled with the sound of bells, conch shells, dhaks and drums.

Yesterday, on Saturday, in the Panchami, in the evening, in the mandapams and temples, Vandana puja was performed to break the sleep of the sleeping Goddess Durga of Dakshinayana through Bodhan.

This year’s Durga Puja will end with Mahasaptami tomorrow, Mahashtami on Tuesday, Mahanavami on Wednesday and Vijaya Dashami on Thursday.

According to the scriptures, this time Goddess Durga has arrived in the yard, her dharna will be in the form of a grain field. And she will leave in the form of a dola. That is why there is a fear of plague.

This time, arrangements are being made at 33,576 mandap, of which 255 are in Dhaka city.

The Home Ministry said that a large number of law enforcement agencies have been deployed to ensure the smooth celebration of the puja.
